====Question or Symptom====
How Do I Download, Install and Use PuTTY?

====Resolution====
Download

Point your web browser to
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

Under the heading: "For Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 and XP on Intel x86"

Click on "putty.exe"

You might get a window with "Save As..." at the top. Select where on your
hard drive you want to save the PuTTY program (i.e., Desktop). Click "OK".

Once the download is completed, PuTTY is installed. You will see an icon of
two computers connected by a lightning bolt, with the word, "putty" underneath.
If it is not in the Folder you want it in, you can move it wherever you want.

Using PuTTY

1. Double click on the putty icon
2. Choose the SSH protocol by clicking on the SSH radio button
3. In the input box labeled "Host Name", type ssh.swcp.com
4. The first time you connect, a window will pop up that says "PuTTY Security
Alert". It will tell you that the host key is not cached, and ask you
if you wish to add the host key for ssh.swcp.com to your cache. Click
"Yes".
5. From here on, it is just like using Telnet. You will be prompted for your
username, then password. Once authenticated, you are logged into your
shell account at Southwest Cyberport.
