New page

===Are there any special settings I need for using Outlook to manage a
Majordomo list?===
Majordomo

====Question or Symptom====
I've had some problems using Outlook (and/or Outlook Express) to manage
a Majordomo mailing list. What do I need to set up to make this work
more easily?

====Resolution====
There are two issues you'll want to be aware of. First, Majordomo expects
plain text messages. If you send it HTML, or MIME encoded messages you will
confuse it. Second, Majordomo expects a single command to be on one line.
If you're set up to word wrap you may split the command and confuse Majordomo.

Outlook Express:
From the "Tools" menu, select "Options".
Press the "Send" Tab
In the "Mail Sending Format" section, select "Plain Text".
Press the "Settings" button (in this section)
Make the "Automatically wrap at" setting as large as possible (132).
Hit the "Apply" button.

Outlook:
From the "Tools" menu, select "Options".
Press the "Mail Format" tab.
In the "Send in this message format" option select "Plain Text".
Press the "Settings" button.
Make the "Automatically wrap at" setting as large as possible (132).
Press OK button.
