New page

===How can I set up my black Actiontec to automatically reconnect?===
Categories:

====Question or Symptom====
Periodically, the black/grey Actiontec (GT701-WG) looses connectivity.
When it happens, the DSL light is a solid green, but the Internet light
is off. If rebooted, it reconnects just fine.

====Resolution====
Turn on PPP auto connect. The older, white/beige Actiontec equipment
defaulted to re-connect automatically, but the GT701-WG does not have
this as a default setting.

This can be done through the web interface for the Actiontec:

1. Open a browser and type 192.168.0.1 into the address line.
2. In the Actiontec web interface click Setup/Configuration.
3. On the Setup/Configuration screen select Advanced Settings
from the menu on the left side.
4. Click on the Begin Advanced Setup Button.
5. On the Advanced Settings select WAN IP from the menu on the
left side.
6. On the WAN IP Settings you will want to verify that Obtain
an IP address through PPPoA is selected, then click Next.
7. Click Next.
8. On the Broadband Connection via PPPoE /PPPoA screen check
PPP auto connect.
9. Click Save and Restart.
