====Question or Symptom====&lt;br /&gt;
(Error 629) Dial up Networking could not negotiate a compatible set of&lt;br /&gt;
network protocols.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
====Resolution====&lt;br /&gt;
This is a ubiquitous, catch-all error message with Windows Dialup&lt;br /&gt;
Networking. It is given for a variety of reasons including a mis-configured&lt;br /&gt;
dialer, or even that a modem connection could not be established.&lt;br /&gt;
  &lt;br /&gt;
First check to make sure your DUN (dialup networking) has TCP/IP selected, but&lt;br /&gt;
NOT &amp;#039;IPX/SPX Compatible&amp;#039; and NOT &amp;#039;NetBEUI&amp;#039;, and that the &amp;#039;Log on to network&amp;#039;&lt;br /&gt;
is NOT selected. (that&amp;#039;s only for Windows NT domains). Similarly, for Windows&lt;br /&gt;
NT, make sure the &amp;#039;Domain&amp;#039; field is left blank in the username/password&lt;br /&gt;
dialog.&lt;br /&gt;
  &lt;br /&gt;
If you still get the error message, make sure that TCP/IP is installed, and&lt;br /&gt;
finally proceed to looking at your modem&amp;#039;s configuration.&lt;br /&gt;
