====Question or Symptom====
What is anonymous FTP?

====Resolution====
   Anonymous FTP means that you or anyone else can connect to and browse
   the FTP server. The convention is to give a login name of "anonymous"
   and your e-mail address for a password. If you are using a web
   browser, it should do that for you automatically. Usually anonymous
   FTP is used for down-loading files to your machine, not uploading
   files. On SWCP's FTP server, there is a space called /pub/tmp which is
   available for anyone to use. However, any files there can be viewed by
   anyone else, and they will be erased by the server after one day.

   On the other hand, if you want to FTP your own private files in your
   home directory on our server then you have to use your login name and
   password for your account with SWCP. If you are using a web browser
   for FTP, then use a URL of this form
   ftp://login:password@ftp.swcp.com.
