What is a list Owner?

The list owner is the person responsible for the list. They are often the list administrator as well. When Mailman detects a problem with the list a message will be sent to the list owner. This item is set up by the mailing list hosting service and if it's necessary to make a change, you will need to contact them to make this change.

What is a list Adminstrator?

The mailing list admin is the person/people who configure the way your mailing list will behave. They may also moderate the list, or appoint others to moderate the list. See list Moderator.

What is a list Moderator?

A list Moderator is someone who approves or rejects any posts to the list that are held for some reason. You may want a completely moderated list which means no messages may appear on the list unless they are approved by a moderator, or you may catch message with certain characteristics. For example, if you have a Cats Only mailing list and someone mentions dog, you may set up a pattern to catch those posts and have them held for moderation. More likely you may set up a spam catching pattern that holds or discards posts.

What is a list Subscriber?

The list subscriber or list member is someone who receives messages from a mailing list. They may be able to post to the list, or they may just receive information from the list. With Mailman they have several options for configuring their experience with your mailing list.
