SWCP Manages Registrations and DNS records for thousands of domain names. We can register new domains for you, transfer existing domains to our registrar service, provide DNS service for your domains (whether we are the registrar or not), or any combination of these.

The Internet domain name system was "deregulated" in the late 1990's. This help to unclog a severely congested name registration system by decentralizing it. Where there was one a single internet registrar, there are now dozens of licensed registrars, operating under the accreditation of ICANN, an international organization created to keep order in the wild west of domain systems.

Now that there are so many players, each with their own world views, working structures, financial goals, and regional cultural influences, the Internet domain name system can be a tricky place. Along with deregulation have come many scammers and con men, operating outside, or often right on the line, of the rules. They do things like send domain owners official-looking renewal notices in the mail or by fax. In reality these notices are offers to have you transfer your domain to their service (often at inflated rates). But they are crafted to look like invoices and they successfully dupe thousands of businesses into paying them each year.

These scammers are just one example of the difficulty in managing a domain name in this environment. When you receive a renewal notice, is it legitimate or a scam? The penalty for missing your renewal could be disastrous (your web site could go dark!)
