SWCP operates a network connecting people and their computers, to our login, web, ftp, mail, and storage servers, and to the Internet at large. Redundancy is important in providing a reliable network Our physical facilities include an emergency power generator and multiple UPSes. Our connections to the Internet include carrier diversity and and bandwidth redundancy.

Mail Farm

Mail has become one of the most computing resource intensive functions of an ISP. Our email handling facilities have evolved continually. In our current environment we have several groups of machines performing different aspects of this complex job, including mail acceptance and rejection, scanning for viruses, rating for spaminess, and then providing for the different delivery methodologies (POP, IMAP, etc).

Web Farms

We have clusters of machines providing web service. There are several web servers serving up customer web pages, with a load balancer front end to distribute access across the cluster. The web farm also uses application and database servers to offload computing tasks to dedicated servers for extra speed.
