If you have designed a web site using iWeb on your Macintosh, here is how to upload it to the SWCP web server.

Export the site from iWeb

  • Make the site in iWeb.
  • Select File -> Publish To A Folder
    • It will prompt you for a folder name in the Sites folder of your web home directory
    • Click New Folder to assign a new name.
  • Some features of iWeb won't work in this method:
    • Hit counter
    • Password protection
    • Comments and attachments


Install FileZilla

Upload your site with FileZilla

  • After you Publish the site to a folder, start FileZilla
  • In the Host field enter "ftp.swcp.com"
  • Enter your username and password in the appropriate fields, click QuickConnect
  • Under Remote Site it will show the path to your home directory on the server. Click your username and you should see "public_html" underneath. Under there you should see the directory for your web site, say "mysite.com". Double-click it.
  • Under Local Site, navigate to the folder where you published the site with iWeb (e.g. /Users/YourName/Sites/mysite.com). You should see file called index.html here and a folder called Site.
  • Double-click the index.html file to upload it
  • Control-Click the Site folder and select Upload from the menu. That will upload the Site folder and all the fiels contained within it. (If you have a 2-button mouse, you can right-click to get that menu; if you have a recent macbook, you can do a 2-finger click to get it).
  • Now visit http://mysite.com/ in your browser to see your site.
