Why does mailman hold some people's messages?
Article:438 Created:2006-09-11 13:57:30 Categories: Mailing Lists
Question or Symptom
One of my list members who should be able to post automatically is getting held in the pending admin approval section with a "Message has implicit destination" tag. What's up with that?
Resolution
Your list member is sending the message to the list with the listname in the BCC (blind carbon copy). This is a common trick used by spammers so Mailman holds any message using this mechanism. Have your list member include the list name in the To or CC fields and they will no longer be held for moderation.
If your list has a domain alias or is part of another list that you'd like to accept posts from you can add a list alias.
Go to Privacy Options --> Recipient Filters and add the alias name in the acceptable_aliases box.
