SWCP operates a network connecting people and their computers, to our login, web, ftp, mail, and storage servers, and to the Internet at large. Redundancy is important in providing a reliable network Our physical facilities include an emergency power generator and multiple UPSes. Our connections to the Internet include carrier diversity and and bandwidth redundancy.
Login Servers
We provide login service on bsd and linux servers.
Mail Farm
Mail has become one of the most computing resource intensive functions of an ISP. Our email handling facilities have evolved continually. In our current environment we have several groups of machines performing different aspects of this complex job, including mail acceptance and rejection, scanning for viruses, rating for spaminess, and then providing for the different delivery methodologies (POP, IMAP, etc).
Web Farms
We have two different sets of machines providing web service. Each group is a collection of four to five dedicated web servers with a load balancer front end. Each web server has access to your website's files and if any one of them crashes or is bogged down the other machines are available to take over serving your website, dynamically. Our servers provide a generic Unix/Apache/MySQL environment for hosting your websites.
We have two different farms to provide both stable and cutting edge software depending on your needs. We also support extant obsolete Microsoft FrontPage extension websites separately, and only for a limited time longer.
File Servers
We have several different file server solutions, including multiple Network Appliances, and Linux and FreeBSD file servers providing many terabytes of storage and backups. In addition to our local storage redundancy we have a secure commercial offsite storage repository.
Redundant Internet Backhauls
We have several OC3s through Time Warner, Sprint, and Qwest in order to provide high availability Internet access. Our fiber connections are carrier diverse and our network providers are both diverse and redundant. We manage our bandwidth to ensure its availability at all times.
State of the Art Modem Racks
We use Total Control and Lucent Digital modem racks, as well as a few analog modem servers to insure reliable connectivity.
Proxy Cache Server
To enhance accessibility of popular sites, we provide a proxy cache server.
