Question or Symptom

You have a broadmax router, you wish to look at statistics for this device and their meainings in a real sense so you know if your router is having line trouble.

Resolution

Telnet into the broadmax in question. Here is a summary of commands with discriptions of the important numbers that may be causing you trouble. It will be helpful to you to be transmitting data (i.e. a down/upload) so you can see the error counters increasing or not.

  1. Gives stats for the dsl interface

$ get dsl stats cntrs

Near SEF  : 0 Near LOS  : 0 Far SEF  : 0 Far LOS  : 0 Near FEC Interleave : 1585290 Near FEC Fast : 0 Far FEC Interleave  : 8511 Far FEC Fast  : 0 Near CRC Interleave : 502 Near CRC Fast : 0 Far CRC Interleave  : 17 Far CRC Fast  : 0 Near NCD Interleave : 4 Near NCD Fast : 0 Far NCD Interleave  : 0 Far NCD Fast  : 0 Near HEC Interleave : 403 Near HEC Fast : 0 Far HEC Interleave  : 12 Far HEC Fast  : 0 Near OCD Interleave : 36 Near OCD Fast : 0

SEF = Severely Errored Frame (SEF) defects. FEC = Forward error correction (FEC). CRC = Cyclic Redundancy Check NCD = NCD (no cell delineation) HEC = Header Error Control (HEC) violations. OCD = The number of Out of Cell Delineation events since the last reset. An

     OCD event is declared when seven consecutive ATM cells have Header Error
     Control (HEC) violations.
  1. Will give the stats for each interface

get interface stats

  1. Shows just one of the interfaces listed above

get interface stats ifname <ifname_from_above>

$get interface stats ifname aal5-0
