How to install the Cloudflare Turnstile CAPTCHA plugin on WordPress

Install the plugin and set up your Cloudflare account

'Note: if you don't already have a Cloudflare account, don't go to the default cloudflare.com to create an account. If you do, it will assume you want to interract with other Cloudflare services but for this purpose you just want to access Turnstile.

  • Install the Simple Cloudflare Turnstile plugin on your WordPress site.
  • Activate the plugin and then go to the link it gives: https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/turnstile
  • Create a Cloudflare account
  • Click the "Create a widget" button
  • For the Widget name, give a name for your site. Doesn't have to be the domain name, just a descriptive label.
  • For the domain enter the domain name of your site without the "www."
  • The defaults for the remaining settings are fine. Click "Create"
  • You should now see Site Key and Secret Key fields.

Configure the plugin

  • Copy the two keys from Cloudflare and paste them to the appropriate fields in the Turnstile plugin setup page on your web site.
  • Select which forms you want to enable the Turnstile CAPTCHA for.
    • You can select various WordPress-provided forms (like user login or post comments).
    • Any form plugins that are installed should also have a pull-down menu where you can select which forms to apply the Turnstile for.
  • Click Save Changes
  • Do the test it displays

Now you are done! Enjoy getting less spam.
