Task How to get there Options Notes
Show Member List Member Management --> Membership List Select beginning letter of email address you're looking for Show Legend for this table will give you lots of useful information. The member list may be broken into multiple pages.
Get Member List on one page http://mailman.swcp.com/mailman/roster/listname You'll get a two column list of all members Column two is all members who're subscribed with digesting. Column one is the rest.
Add members Member Management --> Mass Subscription Add email addresses in the text box one address per line. By default a welcome message is sent, if you don't want to do that, be sure to set that option to "No" before adding the email addresses.
Delete Members Member Management --> Membership List Find member, check the unsub box, press Submit Your Changes You can unsubscribe multiple members at one time.
Moderate a member Member Management --> Membership List Find member, check the mod box, press Submit Your Changes This will hold any posts by this member for moderation.
Allow a member to post Member Management --> Membership List Find member, uncheck the mod box, press Submit Your Changes This will allow posts by this member to go out immediately.
Allow a non-member to post Privacy Options --> Sender Filters List of non-member addresses whose postings should be automatically accepted. List email addresses one per line. Post will be sent immediately.
Moderate a non-member Privacy Options --> Sender Filters List of non-member addresses whose postings shoud be held for moderation. List email addresses one per line. Post will be held.
Moderate new members Privacy Options --> Sender Filters By default, should new list member postings be moderated? Set this to "Yes" for Announce Only mailing lists, or moderate first post lists.
Moderate Posts Tend to Pending Moderator Requests Defer, Accept, Reject, or Discard. Reject sends a message to the sender, discard does not.
Set Archiving Options Archiving Options Archive messages? Y or N Set private/public
Content Filtering Content Filtering Remove message attachments that don't have a matching content type. Examples (Mime Types): multipart/mixed, multipart/alternative, text/plain, image/jpeg, image/gif, application/pdf, application/msword
Adding Headers/Footers Non-Digest Options Your headers and footers can contain substitution variables For example, a footer containing the following text:

List of substitution variables available for your headers and footers

  • real_name This is the value of the real_name configuration variable in the General options category.
  • list_name This is the name by which the mailing list is identified in URLs, where case is significant. In other words, it’s the posting address of the list. (For backward compatibility, the variable internal_name is equivalent.)
  • host_name This is the fully qualified domain name part of the e-mail address for this list.
  • web_page_url This is the base URL for contacting the list via the Web. It can be appended with listinfo/%(list name)s to yield the general list information page for the mailing list.
  • description The brief description of the mailing list.
  • info This is the full description of the mailing list.

Note: to create a substitution variable you need %(variable-name)s Don't forget the trailing s!
