Changing BUS Backup Schedules

The default backup schedule is every day starting at 9pm. You can change this to a different time or a different daily schedule to meet your needs. In fact, since 9pm is the default time, we encourage you to pick a different time of day so that not everybody is backing up at exactly the same moment. Most people pick a time later in the evening or early morning ours. But any time of day is OK.

First, open the SWCP BUS client program. Select the BackupSet you want to modify (by default it will be called FileBackupSet-1 but you may have given it a more descriptive name at setup time). If needed, click the "+" next to the BackupSet name to expand the options for it. Then click BackupSchedule.

On the right you will see a list of the schedules for this BackupSet. There is probably just one, called BackupSchedule-1. Click it, and then click the "Properties" button below.

If you want to keep a daily schedule but set a different start time, select the time in the "Start" section.

If you don't want to back up every single day, change the Type from "Daily" to "Weekly". Then put a checkmark in the box next to each day of the week that you want to do a backup.

If you have a laptop or other computer which is not turned on at regular times, you may want to use the "Extra Backups" feature (see BUS Backup Schedule for Laptops).
