Question or Symptom

Even though SWCP does not recommend any version of Netscape beyond v. 4.75, some customers may wish to use one. Here are email configuration instructions for Communicator v. 7.0.

Resolution

For the purpose of this, we'll assume your username is example and your
    email address is example@swcp.com
1. In Netscape Messenger, go to "Edit" -> "Preferences".
2. If there is a small "+" sign next to "Mail & Newsgroups", click on the + sign to expand the section.
3. Click on "Identity" under "Mail & Newsgroups".
4. Make sure your name and email address has been entered in the appropriate fields.
   Your email address is "example@swcp.com".
5. Click on "Mail Servers".
6. In the "Incoming Mail Servers" box on the right hand side, click the "Add" button.
7. A "Mail Server Properties" pop-up box will appear. Click on the "General"
    tab.
   a) The Server Name is "mail.swcp.com".
   b) The Server Type is "POP3".
   c) The username is your username (in this case, example).
   d) Make sure that "Remember Password" is checked.
8. Click on the "POP" Tab.
   a) Make sure that both "leave messages on server" and "When
deleting a message locally, remove it from the server" are checked.
9. Click "OK". You should be back at the "Mail Servers" page.
10. In the "Outgoing Mail Server" area, a) make sure that "Outgoing mail (SMTP)
    server" is "mail.swcp.com".
   b) make sure that "Outgoing mail server username" is your username (in this case example).
11. Now click "OK" to close the Preferences pop-up box. You should be back in Messenger.
12. Click on "Get Msg". It will ask you for your password. Enter that and
click "OK". You should get your mail! After this, it shouldn't ask you
    for your password again.
