How Do I Set Up Mac OS X to connect with PPP?

Question or Symptom

I can't find where to put the phone number to dial under MacOS X.

Resolution

Go to System Preferences, select Network. On the Location pull-down, select New Location, and name it "Home Dialup" for example.

The Show pull-down should have your modem selected.

On the TCP/IP tab:

       Select Configure: Using PPP
 

On the PPP tab:

       Service Provider:       SWCP
       Telephone Number:       938-1410
       Alternate Number:       998-5999
       Account Name:           Your "P" account user name
       Account Password:       Your "P" account password
 

Click the PPP Options button. Turn on the "Connect automatically..." option, click OK.

Click the Apply Now button.

To dial manually, start Internet Connect (in the Applications folder).
