How do I order stand alone Qwest DSL (no phone line included)

Question or Symptom

You want a Qwest DSL line and you're in range of a Qwest DSL DSLAM but you don't have a Qwest telephone line.

Resolution

You can order Qwest DSL's "Stand-Alone" service. This is a DSL product that does not require the customer to have dial-tone on their Qwest DSL line. Essentially, it is the same RADSL product as their regular DSL, but without voice telephone service. Qwest charges a small additional monthly charge above their other DSL pricing for this service.

Call Qwest DSL "Safe Harbor" Number (for residential lines: 1-800-348-1688; for commercial lines: 1-800-603-6000)

Then tell the operator you speak with that you wish to order stand alone DSL. You will need the following information:

  • Address where service is desired.
  • Name of the owner of the DSL service.
  • SSN of the owner.

Specify that you want to have Southwest Cyberport as the ISP for this service; otherwise, Qwest will try to set you up with MSN. If the Qwest Rep tells you that you cannot have Southwest Cyberport as your ISP, please either ask for a supervisor, or call Southwest Cyberport at (505)232-7992, and ask for assistance placing this order.

At the end of the call you will be given a "phone number". This number is simply to identify the particular copper line used to provide you the circuit, not an actual telephone line.
