Question or Symptom
Can I change my password? What is considered a good password?
Resolution
User passwords should be chosen with care. A good password is one which is not the name of any person or thing and does not appear in any dictionary. Intermixing upper and lower case letters and numbers, concatenating two nonsense words, or creating an acronym from a silly phrase are all good ways to pick a password. Some examples of good passwords are "akld8s3", "FLaiCy8", "brubm0wt", or "chlfts89". Some bad passwords are "password", "mustang", "SANDIA", "billy", or "spaceman". It may seem that we are making a big deal of nothing, but if a computer "cracker" gains access to your account by guessing your password you will be responsible for the charges he or she accumulates. It is also a good idea to change one's password every 3 to 6 months.
