Why do I get a "500 Internal Server Error" with my domain, not without it?
Article:381 Created:2005-03-31 11:10:17 Categories: Web Publishing
Question or Symptom
I'm developing a website and using the following URL to test it. http://www.swcp.com/~me/ I have an htaccess file which works fine with the test URL, but when I try to use my domain to access the web site, I get the 500 Internal Server Error. What's up?
Resolution
Your test URL runs on our older personal pages web server. The domain is set up to use our newer web farm servers. The web farm runs a newer version of Apache and the AuthName directive in the .htaccess file needs to be enclosed with double quotes. You may see a few other minor configuration issues in testing between the two environments. The personal web server runs PHP 4.1.2 while the web farm runs PHP 4.3.10.
