I've got the card installed. Now what?
Resolution
You should have received a CD and some documentation. Insert the CD and start the installation program. Be sure to install the modem's device driver. On the ISP Information Window you'll be asked for the ISP name, and technical support number. Those are:
Southwest Cyberport and 505-232-7992
If you see a screen asking to install TCP/IP networking click on the Install TCP/IP button and follow the instructions to do this. TCP/IP is necessary for using the Internet.
On the Specify Connection Type window, select Point-to-Point (PPP). At this point in the installation, you'll be asked to restart your computer in order to load the DSL modem drivers. After rebooting you should see a "Specify IP Address" window. This has two options, Server assigned IP address(dynamic) and Specify an IP Address(static).
Select the Server assigned IP address. Press the Next button.
You'll now see the IP Name Server Info window. You have two options here, Server assigned name server addresses(dynamic), and Specify Name Server addresses(static) Check the Server assigned Name Server addresses (dynamic) button.
You can now go to the "Test your modem and Megabit connection". At this point, follow the direction in your documentation for running the diagnostic tests.
The final test is the Internet Server Test. Press the Connect button (item 1). You should see a screen that asks for your Username and password. These are your email username, and the password you use to get email. If you email account is lila and your password was fl0w3r you'd specify your username and password as follows:
Username: lila@swcp.com Password: fl0w3r
Don't change the information in the Phone number field. Press connect. You should see the message "Verifying user name and password", followed by "Connection established". At this point you have an Internet connection. You can complete the internet test by clicking on the "US West Megaspeed" link. It will bring up either Netscape or Internet Explorer and go to a US West web page.
If you don't see "Connection established" or you can't browse the web at this point, please give us a call and we'll help you diagnose the problem.
